Bouquet Packing Instructions

Timing

Have the wedding planner put your bouquet in a vase of water directly after the ceremony. Ship within 24–72 hours of the wedding if you can. For a Saturday wedding, Monday morning is the usual target. Keep the bouquet in water, upright, in a cool room (or the fridge, never the freezer) until you pack it. Mist the blooms if you have a floral hydration spray.

How to pack it

  1. Give the stems a fresh angled cut (about 1–2 inches off the bottom).

  2. Wrap only the stems in damp paper towels (damp, not dripping).

  3. Slide the wrapped stems into a plastic bag or wrap them in foil and rubber-band it closed. This is the hydration source.

  4. Leave the flower heads completely uncovered. Do not wrap the blooms in plastic, bubble wrap, or a trash bag. Wet petals sitting in a dark box brown and mold.

  5. Use a sturdy cardboard box only a little larger than the bouquet. Bigger boxes cost more and let the flowers bounce around.

  6. Make a nest of crumpled newspaper or packing paper in the bottom. Set the bouquet in it, then fill every gap so nothing can shift. Paper is safer than bubble wrap or packing peanuts for this use.

  7. Put a note inside with your name, wedding date, and any order number.

  8. Label the outside “Fragile – Fresh Flowers” and “This Side Up.”

How to ship it

  • Use overnight or 1–2 day express. FedEx or UPS is preferred; USPS Priority Mail Express is cheaper but handling is less consistent.

  • Drop the package at a standalone FedEx or UPS location, not a grocery-store or drugstore counter.

  • Avoid shipping Thursday or Friday if you can; the box should not sit over a weekend.
